Fractional Distillation of Crude Oil

Materials

Difficulty

Safety
2
Crude oil is distilled in distillation apparatus, and the fractions are collected in different test tubes. Can ignite the fractions carefully afterwards.
  • Notes
Take care if using a flame, if the flask falls out of the clamp then a fireball ensures. A safer way is in a test tube with sidearm.
